THIS BLOG HAS BEEN RETIRED

THIS BLOG HAS BEEN RETIRED. I'm still going to be keeping it up here, though-- there's some pretty cool old stuff on it. That said, if you want to keep up to date with me, please go to www.georgeoconnorbooks.com.

Poseidon!

I've been a bad boy about updating this blog lately but that will be changing. Just got my first copies of Olympians Book 5, Poseidon: Earth Shaker and am very happy with them. I'll be sharing a lot of sketches and background material from this and the upcoming Aphrodite (if you squint you can make it out on the back cover there).

I'm going to be at Asbury Comic Con

So some last minute plans changed, I suddenly had an open weekend, and the great and powerful Dean Haspiel asked me if I wouldn't want to go with him and Seth Kushner to the Asbury Park Comic Con this Saturday, September 29th for some comic-selling action. I said yes, as I've always wanted to see asbury Park, so come by tomorrow starting at 10 to meet me and get some Olympians signed, if you're so inclined.

A Cross-Pond Collaboration!

Recently, at the world-famous Hypothetical Island studios, I found a drawing on my desk of famed British comics character Judge Dredd, drawn by my studiomate, famed British comics illustrator Simon Fraser, along with a challenge issued to me to "ink me, drokker"

Yeah, I don't know what a drokker is either, but I bet it's naughty.
So I inked that mutha.

Then, being an unfamed American, I drew up a picture of famed American comic book character Captain America and issued a challenge to Simon to ink up my pencil sketch.
Here's Simon's inks. He altered the good captain's dialogue 'cause he's jealous that we had to save his arse in Dubya Dubya Two. Woo! 'Merica!

It's Thorsday!

Man, that title would've been funnier if I posted it on an actual Thursday. Well, thank gods it's Friday! how's that?
First post in an age and a half I know. I've gotten away from drawing for actual fun for, like, months now, so today I came in the studio and was like "I'ma gonn draw somethin' fun! And differen'! Like a Superhero!!!" So I drew Thor, whose also a god. And consequently, not all that different than what i normally draw. Baby steps, baby steps.

Marathon to Hades party tonight!

Bergen Street Comics, my personal favorite comic store--- IN THE ENTIRE KNOWN UNIVERSE-- is being awesome enough to host a party tonight, Friday June 22nd, at 8 PM for both my own Hades: Lord of the Dead and good buddy/studiomate Joe Infurnari's brand new Marathon. It's going to be more Greek-themed action than you could shake a caduceus at. Come on by, have a drink, and get a book or two signed. Hope to see you there!

Adam Yauch, MCA, RIP

A while ago, back when I used to have time to just draw for fun, I contributed this drawing of the Beastie Boys to the site. I've listened to the Beasties for most of my life, and the news of Adam Yauch's untimely passing yesterday was sad stuff. I'm glad to see that in my quick little doodle MCA was placed front and center.

Rest in Peace, Adam Yauch.

Hades on the NYTimes bestseller list!

Long time, no post, but this I had to share: the latest volume in Olympians, Hades: Lord of the Dead, just appeared on the NYtimes bestseller list! Wahoo!

A big thanks to everyone who helped make this happen. Give a click here to see the list, and to read a brief Q&A with yours truly about it.
